Pitch Black

The blackout panel gag, where the lights go out and then come back on to reveal something scary, is probably among the oldest jokes in cartoon history. But I’m okay with that.

To be honest I almost had Lolo exclaim, “I must have made a wrong turn at Albuquerque” somewhere in there.

I’m a big fan of the old Warner Bros. stuff and Bugs Bunny is among the many reasons that my main character is a rabbit to begin with (perhaps the more influential reason being that the main characters of Matt Groening’s Life in Hell strip were rabbits, but I’ve been over that already, dammit!). Since I was so heavily influenced by old cartoons, I feel as if I have a certain duty to reference some of that cartoon history when I have the opportunity. They can’t all be fart jokes, okay?

Have a good weekend! Be excellent to each other and I’ll see you on Monday!
