Hey you guys!

Sorry to start your week off with such a downer of a strip…you’ll forgive me when you see where this story’s going. I promise it will get goofy again soon.

I’m not sure that I knew exactly what Montgrave was when I started the strip.

I think initially I wanted it to be a joke-a-day kinda thing (well, three days a week but you get the idea) however I soon found myself really enjoying the storytelling aspect of it and wanting to develop that more. I guess the what comic became is “an ongoing humor strip with continuity.” I don’t really like to over-think it, I just have to do the things that feel right.

I have no idea what I’m doing and sometimes I may decide to take a chance and toss in a somber strip because I think it lends humanity to the characters and the story. If it’s a stupid decision then maybe I lose a couple readers, but I can’t really worry about that. All that I can do is try to make the best comics possible and hope that readers respond to that.
